What a great movie. Corporate lord / criminal mastermind, J.B.E. has made a deal w/ the eeevil in exchange for extreme wealth. must come forth to save us. This movie is a blast from start to finish. Perfect. With the world and all creation in peril from ultimate eeevil, The foretold FIFTH ELEMENT (Milla). Zorg (Gary Oldman).

A cab driver named Corben Dallas (Bruce Willis). becomes her protector until she can fulfill her destiny. Will good triumph over eeevil. Chris Tucker is a riot in this one as Ruby Rhod.

The music fits the film like a glove, being as perfectly unconventional as the movie itself. While action packed, science fiction movies had been made before, none were so deliciously eccentric as The Fifth Element. Then you have Ruby Rhod, the personification of sexual mainstream in the future. The way each of the scenes were shot is spectacular and full of color. This, accompanied by the music compilation for the film, make it extremely likable all around. While he retains his action packed persona, he also adds a sarcastically witty humor to the mixture that creates a fun and strangely charming character, that you can't help but cheer for. The tough ex-military Major, turned cab driver that just CAN'T catch a break Bruce Willis portrays is brilliant.

The heroine of the story, the savvy, orange headed, non English speaking, fifth element, is just as amazing. Milia does a fantastic job creating a combination of sweet innocence, mischievous playfulness and a kick a$$ martial artist, that just makes the character of Li-loo explode with dynamic energy. If you like action packed, futuristic stories, then you should probably see this movie.When this movie first came out, it was so very different then anything that had proceeded it. The chemistry between the cast in each of their prospective roles is like a flawless dance, which makes the story that much more enjoyable.The world itself is masterful and innovative. The clothing, technology, transportation, and weapons is very original and like I said, wonderfully eccentric. It makes the world of The Fifth Element feel real and alive. It's worth the experience. If you like this movie and have NOT seen it on Blue Ray yet, I strongly suggest you do.

While the plot of evil taking over and a hero rising to save the day, and humanity, is not such an original concept, the twisted nature of the characters completely made up for this ten fold. I just recently purchased the Blue Ray and was stunned by the sharpness of the picture. (And what is up with his clothes and hair).He is diva of the twenty-third century,(and yes, I weep for the future) with a boisterous, flamboyant flavored personality and an inherent yellow streak that runs from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. This makes him a hilarious character to watch bumble around in the unlikely company of Major Corbin Dallas (Willis), the unwitting hero of the story. It not only brings life to the film, but also makes it feel like you could be standing right there in the futuristic world along with the characters.

Gary Oldman, Ian Holm and Chris Tucker round up a collective cast that fits impeccably with the pace and story Besson offers viewers, and are each indispensable in their respective roles. Taking place in 23rd century New York, where flying cars pollute the skies, this futuristic thriller, directed by Luc Besson, is one of the most colorful, vibrant, visually ostentatious films ever made. As a whole, however, The Fifth Element seems burdened by its own objective, which is to overwhelm its audience's senses. In it, a taxi-driver with Special Forces training (Bruce Willis) is caught off guard when a scantily-clad, orange-haired clone named Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into his backseat. Regarded and referred to as "the perfect being," Leeloo represents the good in an intergalactic war against Evil, and is humankind's last hope for survival--she is the Fifth Element. Had it slowed down a bit to focus more on the characters at its center, the film would have been much more successful as a motion picture; instead, it's just a pretty good article of entertainment. The remastered Blu-ray edition enhances Besson's beautiful imagery enough that fans of the film will have reason to make the HD upgrade, but only fans.

This is not a movie review, this is primarily about the quality of the latest Blu-Ray remaster for this movie.It really isn't all that much better than the DVD quality, kind of gets grainy a lot in scenes. I was disappointed after the amazingly crystal clear blu ray version of Galaxy Quest.Well the upside I suppose is I get to watch one of my favourite movies of all time in slightly better than DVD quality.
